The best way to travel to the Faroe Islands is probably flying via a Danish city like Copenhagen or Aalborg, from where there are daily flights to the Faroese Airport: Vagar Airport. Vagar is located in the eastern part of the island at a distance of about 35-40 kilometers from the capital Torshavn.
The Airlines flying to the Faroe Islands are Atlantic Airways and Icelandair in addition to some flights operated by BA Cityflyer from the UK, more precisely from Glasgow. Besides Copenhagen and Aalborg, Faroe Islands can be reached from Billund and the Norwegian cities of Bergen and Stavanger, and the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik.
Vagar Airport, which was built for military purposes during the Second World War, was opened for civil aviation in 1963, and receives nowadays from 5 to 10 daily flights.
