The conservative candidate for the Finnish presidency Sauli Niinistö was chosen tonight as the 12. president of the Republic of Finland.
The difference was clear between the two candidates in the last round of the elections; Niinistö received 62,6% of all votes, whereas Pekka Haavisto, the Green Party’s candidate, got 37,4 % of the votes.
The participation rate in this second round of the Finnish presidential elections remained under 69%.
