Posted On Sunday, December 9, 2012 By thenordiccountries. Under Finnish Cinema, Icelandic Cinema, Nordic Cinema, Norwegian Cinema, Swedish Cinema  Tags: American actors and actresses in Spain, Caucasian actress in Spain, English speaking actress in Spain, Finnish actress, Foreign actress in Spain, Nordic actress, Nordic actress in Spain

The Finnish actress Emilia Uutinen is one of the Nordic actresses known abroad. She works in Spain and is known for her roles in the Spanish television and film industry.

Her films include titles such as “An almost Perfect World” (Un Mundo Casi Perfecto), “Somne”, “20 Centimeters” or “Unfarewell” and TV series such as “Aida”, “Brothers and Detectives”, “Con el Culo al Aire”, “The Time in Between” and “Escenas de Matrimonio “.

Emilia Uutinen began her career in the world of acting in her native Finland, mainly acting in theatre plays, until moving to Spain, where she studied acting at the Royal School of Dramatic Art in Madrid. After her studies she debuted in numerous Spanish productions, being one of her first appearances the films “Somne” by Isidro Ortiz and the musical film “20 Centimeters” by Ramon Salazar in which Uutinen intervenes as a dancer.

The actress became very popular for her role in the successful Spanish sitcom “Escenas de Matrimonio” which was followed by several other television roles under the direction of filmmakers such as Juan Luis Iborra, Pepe Pavón, Javier Giménez, Juan Pablo Lacroze, Iñaki Peñafiel or Norberto Lopez Amado.

Uutinen also participated in the newest film of the brothers, writers and directors Esteban and José Miguel Ibarretxe, “An Almost Perfect World.” (“Sabotage”, “You Only Die Twice”).

Her new projects include a role in the ambitious miniseries “The Time in Between” based on the novel of the same title by the Spanish writer María Dueñas.

The film “An Almost Perfect World” was selected in the Section ZONAZINE of the Málaga Spanish Film Festival in 2011.

In addition to working in film and television, Uutinen has been devoted also to the theater, performing in several works of authors such as:

Emilia Uutinen in “Los Empeños de Palermo”

Tennessee Williams, August Strindberg, William Shakespeare, Jardiel-Poncela, Federico García Lorca, María Zambrano, Calderon de la Barca and Lope de Vega being directed by Nuria Alkorta, José Gamo or Beatriz Antón, among others.

This Nordic actress has also exploited her most musical side stepping into the role of a Londoner jazz composer and pianist in the fictional music video “Invocating” of the Spanish composer Miguel Pons.

In addition to acting in Spanish and Finnish, her mother tongue, we have seen Uutinen acting in English in the short film “Unfarewell” of A. Mdez (2010) playing the role of an Amish woman.

Uutinen speaks and acts fluently also in French and Swedish so we don’t rule out seeing her in the future in French, British or Nordic cinema.

Among her new projects, along with the miniseries “The time in Between” is included the new season of the Spanish Antena 3 channel’s hit comedy “Con el Culo al Aire” . More information on http://emiliauutinen.com.
